Welcome to our new favourite place on earth, or at least our new favourite West London wedding venue. The Octagon Room at the Orleans House Gallery in Richmond is an ornate slice of Baroque opulence, all welcoming cherubs, gold scrolls and baby blue accents.
Nary a surface has been left unadorned by some sort of fanciful twiddly bit (technical term). It's a minimalist's nightmare and a maximalist photographer's highest fantasy. The sunlight streams in through the towering windows across the black-and-white checkerboard floor, and the chandelier overhangs everything with majestic twirly glee. Pack the place full of blooms from Ukranian-in-London florist Svitlana Oliinyk Mashtaler and there's not enough Kodak Portra in the world to capture every ornate detail.
…And then the wedding began. Cindy and Rui hosted an intimate international gathering of family and friends (from Portugal, Indonesia and beyond) that had long been awaited: one friend was single when the wedding was first supposed to take place, but by the time it eventually happened she had a husband and twin babies in tow. Once married, Cindy slipped into her Temperley Bridal party dress (pink, to match her Manolo Blahnik wedding shoes) and we all trooped down to the river. The Hammerton Ferry whisked us over to Petersham Nurseries for dinner, more cake and music from close friends.
I love love love that our 35mm wedding photography gets developed and scanned so fast so we can post these before we've even finished editing digitals! We'll post another gallery with our digital Orleans House Gallery wedding photography soon.
